The first day of my recovery began on Thanksgiving day, November 24th, 2016. I found myself in a foreign hospital, a few of the symptoms included chest pain and severe light sensitivity. My concerned parents stood outside of the room as I confessed my intention to kill myself just a few days before to the nurse and psychologist. The part that scared me the most was the fact when I finally said it out loud, I meant every word that came out of my mouth. As soon as the medical personal left the room, I immediately flew into a severe panic attack and managed to call my closest friend from school. To hear that voice and compassion on the other end of the line meant the world to me in that pivotal moment. It’s been a long road and a lot has changed (for better and worse) since checking into that New York hospitial.
