Day 572

Well Sated

This is one of those weeks upon which I looked with a bit of dread. Every single day is jammed with to do’s and meetings. Every single night booked with something. Now, mind you, it’s all amazing stuff, but it also means nary a night for downtime and sorting “life” administrata. A stressful thing when so many big oogie items hover there.

Taking a moment to think about my own life I realize just how almost inordinately blessed I am on this front. So many people whose lives have crossed, intertwined (and some cases collided) with mine, where we are no longer in contact or even in the same time zone, and yet, when we connect, time disappears. Here’s my opinion on why this is. When a bond is based in authenticity, when it is forged in truth and not soldered together in an attempt to “network” or force a connection, only a Herculean effort can tear it apart.

Today was a day of reconnecting with so many things and people — an early morning phone call with a friend who’s returning to Las Vegas, my delightful dinner with Jessica and two of her badass pals (who she rightly had described to me as “my people”) and of course my morning, which started in a synagogue, standing in prayer with a dozen strangers, the murmured cadence of prayers and chants of thousands of years — foreign and familiar — as I acknowledged the anniversary of my father’s passing.

Connection. It is what makes us human.

Speaking of human. Be humane and if you have local election primaries coming up — get out and vote. Here in Las Vegas the primaries for our local elections are on April 2 and early voting starts March 16!!!

Today’s Gracious Gratitude. I am grateful for:
